- What do I need to run JotBot?
You need to have Java installed, version 1.5 on a Mac, version 1.6 on Windows. You can download Java for free from java.com - On what platforms does JotBot work?
JotBot is written to be cross-platform and integrates with the desktop on Mac OSX, Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, and Ubuntu Linux. - Does JotBot work by watching what programs you are running?
No. Based on our experience, simply knowing what applications were in use for a time period is insufficient for most purposes. Was the hour you spent this afternoon on Wikipedia for work or personal reasons? JotBot comes to you and asks you to enter information about what you are doing. Because you record details of your activities while you're doing them your descriptions can be as detailed as you need them to be. At the end of the day you have accurate information for reliable reporting. - Isn't actively prompting a user disruptive?
Only minimally and much less than an instant message, a new email notification or a coworker asking you a question. Any sort of time tracking is going to be disruptive to a degree so JotBot aims to be as minimally intrusive as possible. If you log is the same as the previous time interval just press Alt + Enter to log the new entry, you don't even have to take your hands off the keyboard. - Is my data locked in?
No, you can export your data as either CSV or XML. - How can I get in touch with the JotBot team?
